Throughout the TID conference – The winner of the competition for the design of the new visual identity, Engineer of Architecture, Radovanka Milošević, will be presenting to the attendees the history and development of The Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering logo as well as the new visual identity through a dynamic presentation.
Throughout the years, the logo has changed in the following manner:
1. First version of the logo
Designer: Unknown
The first version of The Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering logo represents the heritage as well as the vision of our great scientist. The NT initials provide clear identification of the Institute, conveying respect towards the name and the works of Nikola Tesla. The three phasors, arranged at a 120 degree angle represent progress, innovation and endeavour towards achieving true potential. The asymmetric arrangement creates a dynamic and modern look which emphasises activities and achievements of the Institute. By placing the logo within the two rings, a sense of stability and protection is established, whilst also leaving enough room for expressing creativity and scientific exploration. This combination of symbols and borders represents the strength and dedication of the Institute in achieving scientific and technological accomplishments.
2. Second version of the logo
Designer: Miloš Ćirić
The second version of The Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering logo represents the combination of the INT initials, elegantly blended in a design which represents an open book. The initials are placed within the book's contours, which points to an intellectual depth and a dedication to science. The book covers represent the significance of education, research and development which the Institute promotes. The symmetrical design of the logo conveys stability and balance, while the lines and the shapes are carefully melded to create an aesthetically pleasing and recognizable visual identity. The combination of the initials and the symbolism of the book portrays technological advancement which is deeply rooted in knowledge.
3. Third version of the logo
Designer: Unknown
The third version of The Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering logo was specially tailored to represent the 50th anniversary of the Institute. It displays the combination of the INT initials, elegantly blended in a design symbolised by the laurel wreath. The initials placed within the contours of the wreath emphasise the achievements of the Institute throughout the 50 years of its existence. The laurel wreath border symbolises glory, triumph and remarkable contributions the Institute has made within the field of science and technology. The symmetrical design of the logo gives out a feeling of stability and prestige, while the lines and the shapes are carefully arranged to create an aesthetically pleasing and recognizable visual identity.
4. Fourth version of the logo
Designer: Radovanka Milošević
The fourth version of The Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering logo represents the symbiotic relationship between science and innovation, inspired by the works of Nikola Tesla. The base of the logo is a radial shape, inspired by a photograph of the scientist in front of a spiral coil which he used in his experiments in his laboratory. This interpretation of the photo of NIkola Tesla expresses a deep respect toward his heritage and ideals. The radial elements of the logo represent dynamics, energy and the explorative nature of the Institute. The most significant element of the logo is the spiral coil, whose form is precisely shaped with special attention to detail. The significance of the form lies within its symbolism, representing the energy and the vision which Tesla had in the field of science and technology. The logo conveys the vision of the Institute and pays respect to the scientific giant, whose work is still a source of inspiration to this day.
