The research and development at the Nikola Tesla Institute are organized into four centers:

• Center for power systems,
• Center for Automation and Regulation,
• Center for power facilities,
• Center for electrical measurements,
• Accredited laboratory for testing and calibration
• Common service

In the process of transformation of the Institute, which is carried out under the auspices of the line ministry, the World Bank and the European Union, within the framework of the SAIGE project, the following were formed in the Institute:

• Office for Technology Transfer
• Office for Institutional and Project Financing
• Office for Digital Transformation and Application of Artificial Intelligence
• Service for planning and analysis
